How SafeCircle handles safety data

Data used
SafeCircle uses a device-bound account identifier, push-notification token, trusted-contact connections, SOS status, location during an active SOS, evidence you deliberately add, and operational security logs. The mobile user flow does not use phone OTP.
Background location during an SOS
SafeCircle collects and transmits your precise location data to enable live SOS tracking during an active emergency even when the app is closed or not in use. Location is collected only while your SOS is active and is not used for advertising.
Emergency sharing
Paired trusted contacts may receive your exact SOS location. General nearby SafeCircle responders receive a displaced approximate location rather than your exact position. Evidence is available only to the owner and authenticated devices authorized when the SOS was delivered.
Protection and retention
Evidence is encrypted in transit and with AES-256-GCM at rest. Recipient grants expire after 24 hours. Default server retention scrubs exact SOS location after 30 days, deletes evidence after 90 days, and deletes non-active incident records after 365 days; the production controller may shorten these periods after legal review.
Your choices
You can remove trusted contacts, change device permissions, stop an SOS, and permanently delete the device account from Settings. Deletion removes associated SOS, evidence, notification, contact and local app data, subject to legally required security records.
Important limit
SafeCircle supports emergency communication and does not replace police, ambulance, civil defence, or another emergency service.
